What we're reading:

Cody Harmon, King of Pets by Claudia Mills

Cody Harmon doesn’t love reading, math, spelling, or any of the subjects that Mrs. Molina teaches in her third-grade class. But he lives on a farm and loves animals – especially his pets: two dogs, two cats, one rooster, three hens, and one pig. So when the school holds a pet-show fundraiser, he knows it should be his time to shine.

The only problem is there’s a ten dollar entry fee per pet, and Cody can’t pay for all nine. Which one should Cody choose? And is it fair that he has so many pets but some of his classmates don’t have any at all?
