NovelTea Book Club: The Bookman's Tale

NovelTea Book Club: The Bookman's Tale In-Person

Join us for NovelTea Book Club on the second Thursday of every month. Enjoy tea and treats provided by the Menomonee Falls Library Friends while discussing a fiction book selection.

This month we are discussing The Bookman’s Tale by Charlie Lovett. Peter Byerly isn’t sure what drew him into this particular bookshop in the Welsh town of Hay-on-Wye. Nine months earlier, the death of his beloved wife, Amanda, had left him shattered. The young antiquarian bookseller relocated from North Carolina to the English countryside, hoping to outrun his grief and rediscover the joy he once took in collecting and restoring rare books. But upon opening an eighteenth-century study of Shakespeare forgeries, Peter is shocked when a portrait of Amanda tumbles out of its pages. Of course, it can’t be her. The watercolor is clearly Victorian. Yet, the resemblance is uncanny, and Peter becomes obsessed with learning the picture’s origins.

Copies of The Bookman’s Tale will be available at the 2nd floor desk starting on Friday, September 9, but you may also request the book in your preferred format online at www.cafelibraries.org.
